You cannot walk very far in Ubud without seeing a sculpted statue of the Buddha seated in meditation on a lotus blossom. His eyes are downcast, his hands are folded in a sacred mudra, and his hair is coiled with spirals that symbolize the celestial patterns of the sun, moon, and planets across the heavens. Seated in this meditation under a Bodhi tree, it is said that the Buddha reached enlightenment after defeating Mara, the king of demons. He would later teach the eightfold path to enlightenment and the Four Nobel Truths.

Meditation awakens your inner Buddha.

ar_med_meditationToday meditation is associated with daily living, from activities such as dance, listening to music, cooking and artistry. These activities all involve concentration, which is a main practice in meditation. Meditation is traditionally a spiritual practice in which the flow of thoughts in the mind is slowed and mental awareness is turned away from the sensory 'outside' world to the inner world. The turn inward is an experience of dissolving into a space of silence and stillness that goes on infinitely. When mental awareness is moved away from the mind down to the pulse of the heart, meditation becomes a gateway through which you can arrive at a place of inner peace and unconditional love. It is a place free from all suffering. In this place of stillness, one can experience a union with the Divine or a sense of deep connectedness with all things.

It is beautifully said in the Upanishads, "If you sit in silence and look at the universe,  you will feel as if the universe is meditating with you". The silence of meditation draws one into the heart of all creation, into the very pulse of the universe itself.

Meditation brings peace to mind, reduces stress and anxiety, awakens new insights about the self and life, and provides a space for a deep and personal journey into the heart to reconnect with spirit. It begins your journey into conscious living, so that each moment is awakened to knowing the oneness of all things. Let life always filled with Light.
